In 1985, the oldest and youngest of seven brothers, Rob and John O’Neill, joined their father, Jack O’Neill (founder) in operating Coast Hotels.
Sold Coast Hotels to Okabe Co, with six managed and eight franchised hotels system-wide. Rob and John O’Neill continued to manage 12 Coast Hotels until 1991.

In early 2013, O’Neill Hotels & Resorts announced a long-term agreement with American Hotel Income Properties (AHIP) REIT to manage 32 Oak Tree Inn hotels in 19 U.S. states. Later in the year, OHR announced another long-term agreement with AHIP, this one to manage four hotels in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area. The hotels are managed by O’Neill Hotels & Resorts through its wholly owned subsidiary, Tower Rock Hotels & Resorts Inc.
O’Neill Hotels & Resorts launched a new hotel management company, ONE Lodging Management.
Acquired by Aimbridge Hospitality in 2018, ONE Lodging now manages close to 120 hotels totaling more than 12,000 guestrooms in the U.S. and Canada and employs more than over 4,000 employees.
